The process to renew the Economic and Social Forum (FES) of San Cristóbal de La Laguna for the 2026-2030 term is officially underway. According to the local administration’s technical schedule, elections to select new members are set for 12 November 2026, assuming the administrative process continues as planned. This step follows the official announcement published in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Official Bulletin last Friday, coordinated by the Mayor’s Office.
The provisional electoral rolls, which list the organisations participating in the vote, have now been publicly released. These groups represent five key sectors within the municipality: business, professional, community, youth, and senior citizens. The lists are available for consultation at the local council’s physical notice board and on its website.
From Monday, 21 September, there will be a period of five working days, ending on Friday, 25 September, during which individuals can submit objections to the provisional rolls. Complaints can be lodged in person at the General Registry of the Council, located at number 38 San Agustín Street, or processed through the municipal electronic headquarters and other channels permitted by the Common Administrative Procedure Law.
The FES of La Laguna serves as the second highest representative body in the municipality, only behind the Full Council, and is currently the only forum of its kind operational across the Canary Islands. It is designed as a neutral and inclusive space aimed at facilitating citizen participation in the socio-economic development and public interest of the city.
Regarding the start of this process, the Mayor and current FES president, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, stated that this initiative exemplifies the transparency and integration the Forum aims to promote among various sectors of society, allowing all Laguneros to see themselves represented in this body. He also highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections in further strengthening the engagement of economic, social, and citizen stakeholders in shaping the present and future of the municipality.
