This Saturday, the Feluco Paz arena in San Bartolomé hosted the second match of the fourth round of the Liga Cabildo Insular de Lanzarote, featuring youth and senior categories between San Bartolomé Graficame Faycan Automoción and Unión Sur Yaiza Finca de Uga. The youth match ended with a win for the visitors, who triumphed 12 to 9, while the senior match saw the home team pull off a narrow victory by a single point.
The event attracted a good turnout, with effective officiating by Francisco Martín, assisted by José Antonio Elvira. It showcased the vibrant local wrestling scene in Lanzarote, as both teams demonstrated impressive skill and determination.
The match began with San Bartolomé taking an early lead, reaching 8-4. Eduardo Perera secured wins against Raúl Fuentes and Arturo Puentes. Despite this, the southern team rallied to level the score at 8-8, thanks in part to Chus García’s victories over Kevin González and Luis Bordón, while Ayose Reyes defeated Airan Gordillo, pushing the score to 11-9 for the home team.
Unión Sur Yaiza’s key player eliminated Eduardo Perera, Juan Cruz, and Tomás del Toro. This set up a crucial showdown between the team captains, Hakím García for the home side and Cristo Betancort for the visitors. Betancort managed to pin García twice, narrowing the score to 11-10.
In the final round, Ayose Reyes faced off against Cristo Betancort. The first grip was halted, but in the second, Reyes secured a definitive victory, ending the match with a score of San Bartolomé Graficame Faycan Automoción 12, Unión Sur Yaiza Finca de Uga 11.
On Sunday, the women’s wrestling event scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the Eraclio Niz Mesa “Pollo de Arrecife” arena has been postponed due to severe weather conditions affecting the island. The decision was confirmed by the Federation.
