Rise in Contributory Pensions in the Canary Islands Over the Past Year: How Much?

In June, 381,300 individuals in the Canary Islands received contributory pensions, marking a 2.5% increase compared to the same month last year. The average pension stood at €1,251.50, reflecting a 4.8% rise since June 2025. These figures were reported by the Canary Islands Statistical Institute (ISTAC).

The most common type of pension is the retirement pension, which was claimed by 216,500 people this June—an increase of nearly 6,000 beneficiaries from the previous year. Recipients received an average of €1,455.40, up 4.7%.

Widowhood pensions were next in line, benefiting 83,900 individuals, with an average monthly amount of €919.70. This represents a slight 0.4% increase in beneficiaries over the past year, while the average amount rose by 4.6%.

Permanent disability pensions were claimed by 62,100 people, a notable 6.9% increase since 2025. The average payment is €1,197.80, which is up 3.7% compared to last year.

Additionally, 18,900 people receive orphan and family pensions, averaging €563.80 monthly. This group saw a 1% decline in beneficiaries but a 5.8% increase in average amounts.
