Local talent shone brightly at the Festival of Carmen in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, showcasing the extraordinary voices of seven musicians from Yaiza. The audience in the Plaza del Carmen was captivated by performances from Christian Morales, Coral Silva, Gabriela Rodríguez, Fabio Martín, Alexia Caraballo, Araceli Bravo, and Elieser Betancort, all established artists from the area.
The gala was a lively affair, with the entire crowd singing and applauding, completely enthralled by the performers. Accompanied by a talented four-piece band led by maestro Fran Mauri, each artist chose two well-loved songs, culminating in a rousing rendition of the classic Guantanamera sung together with an enthusiastic audience.
Before their performances, the singers shared videos detailing their ties to the fishing village of Playa Blanca, adding an emotional touch to the evening. Many of these young artists began their journeys in local children’s and youth competitions, with their love for music rooted deeply in Yaiza. Their evolution and growth were clearly expressed at this year’s festival.
Daniel Medina, the councillor for Celebrations in Yaiza, praised the host of performers, stating, “Our soloists have graced stages across the Canary Islands and beyond, invited by regional broadcasters and taking part in national competitions. Having them all together in Playa Blanca has been a true privilege.”
The evening, presented smoothly by Amaira Cedrés and Juan Quintana, featured a lively pace enhanced by the thoughtful choreography from the Beatrice Senent Dance School.
The local council, led by Óscar Noda, praised the talented artists for their commitment to Playa Blanca and the broader Yaiza community.
