Coordinated by the Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering (OPVAM) with management by GESPLAN, the fair aims to connect these organisations with the public. Attendees will learn about opportunities for voluntary participation in protecting Tenerife’s natural heritage.

The fair will include 38 informative stands where participants can discover various projects and involvement options. Notable attendees include the University of La Laguna and various local schools, alongside organisations like the Civil Protection Volunteer Group of La Laguna, Friends of the Insects, and the WWF-affiliated SEO/BirdLife Tenerife.

The event also features practical workshops addressing conservation techniques, botany, and recycling, as well as six talks on topics like biodiversity and the impact of climate change. Visitors will have access to guided nature trails, a children’s play area, and networking opportunities for associations and businesses with corporate social responsibility programmes.

Highlighting women’s contributions to mountain activities and environmental conservation, there will be a screening of the documentary “Women and Mountains” at noon, followed by a panel discussion led by Patricia León Pérez, the director of Equality and Diversity at the Tenerife Cabildo.

The fair marks the start of a week-long series of activities running from 1 to 8 November, with an environmental walk in Candelaria on 8 November featuring the release of rehabilitated shearwaters.

This edition aligns with the United Nations’ declaration of 2026 as the International Year of Volunteering for Sustainability, recognising the role of volunteers in fostering sustainable development and environmental protection. The event organisers aim to minimise its environmental impact and ensure accessibility for all attendees.

The public is encouraged to join in tomorrow to learn more about local conservation efforts and how to get involved.
