The Gran Canaria council has activated its Emergency Plan (PEIN) from midnight on Saturday, 7 November, in response to the approaching Atlantic storm Bruna, which is forecast to bring heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and a risk of flooding across the island over the weekend.
As part of the preparations, all public facilities, including recreational areas, campsites, and hostels, will be closed.
Residents are advised to avoid travel unless necessary, and to use main roads if they must venture out.
Local authorities have urged everyone to exercise “maximum caution” due to the likelihood of landslides and poor road conditions. They recommend that people stay at home whenever possible and adhere to the guidance of officials.
