A man has been arrested by Guardia Civil officers in Vecindario, Gran Canaria, on suspicion of committing an industrial property offence and breaching court-imposed restrictions.
During an inspection of a shop in southern Gran Canaria, around €60,000 worth of allegedly counterfeit items were seized, including sportswear, handbags, wallets, caps, and belts. This operation stemmed from an earlier judicial inquiry regarding suspected violations of industrial property rights.
Inspectors found that boxes that had been previously sealed by court order were broken open without permission during the check. Further examination of the store’s inventory revealed numerous articles that appeared to infringe on well-known national and international trademarks.
Additionally, investigators identified several items that had been previously claimed and were under judicial custody, while noting an excess quantity of goods compared to earlier records. This indicated a violation of the protective measures placed on some of the seized merchandise.
Consequently, the suspect was detained, while the goods were seized once again and placed under judicial control, with the affected boxes resealed. The case has been forwarded to the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Investigative Court for further legal proceedings.
