Temperatures Set to Soar Above 34 Degrees in Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is under a yellow weather alert from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) this Friday, with a heatwave expected to last almost a week across the Canary Islands. This alert is also anticipated to extend into Saturday.
The arrival of warm air from Africa is becoming more noticeable, accompanied by thick dust that will persist for several days. Residents are advised to take precautions, especially those with young children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions.
Aemet forecasts temperatures exceeding 34 degrees Celsius in some areas of the island’s interior and south, with most of Fuerteventura likely to see highs above 30 degrees. Light northeasterly winds are expected.
The sea conditions are currently calm in the east, with wave heights around one metre in the north and west. Caution is advised for swimming along all coastlines of the island.
