A cyclist sustained serious injuries on Tuesday after falling several metres off the GC-60 road near Fataga, southern Gran Canaria, according to the Canary Islands Emergency Service (1-1-2 Canarias).
Emergency services received a call at approximately 3:33 PM reporting the incident. Medical personnel from the SUC arrived swiftly by ambulance, supported by a nearby non-urgent transport service. Upon evaluation, the cyclist was found to have a severe head injury and was airlifted to Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria.
Firefighters assisted medical staff in moving the injured cyclist on a stretcher to the ambulance, which was parked near where the helicopter landed. After being stabilised, the cyclist was flown to the hospital in critical condition.
The Guardia Civil was also on the scene to support emergency resources and carry out the necessary report.
