The Santa Cruz City Council has approved a project to upgrade the streets surrounding the Nuestra Señora de África Market. The initiative will be carried out in two phases, each lasting nine months, with a total investment of €3.1 million.
Phase one will focus on Darias and Padrón streets, as well as Bethencourt and Molina street, including the access ramp and terrace areas. The plan prioritises maintaining access for deliveries and ensuring accessibility for residents.
The second phase will target the Rambla and its connections along José Manuel Guimerá street, covering the central promenade, side roads, parking zones, and kiosks.
The design features a seamless platform with no curbs or gradients, incorporating the descent lane from Avenida José Manuel Guimerá. Additionally, the staircase at the back of the market will be replaced by a large, accessible, landscaped ramp.
