Baleària Canarias has launched its EasyPass system, allowing passengers travelling between the Canary Islands to board directly with just a QR code. The service is currently available on the Playa Blanca-Corralejo route and will roll out to the Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Las Palmas de Gran Canaria route by the end of August, followed by the Santa Cruz de La Palma-Los Cristianos-San Sebastián de La Gomera connections in early September.
This innovation aims to simplify travel for residents who frequently shuttle between the islands for work, study, or family commitments. Rather than navigating reservations and ticket booths, passengers can arrive at the port, scan their QR code on the Baleària app, and board immediately. This also applies to those travelling with vehicles.
EasyPass enhances flexibility and speed, allowing local residents to avoid the usual travel formalities. By streamlining the boarding process, the system improves the overall travel experience, particularly for frequent travellers.
Users can register on the Baleària Club app, upload their residency documentation, and set up a payment method. The QR code feature also allows sharing with family or colleagues, making it easier for businesses to manage employee travel.
Baleària’s aim is to make travel as smooth as possible, incorporating digital identification and automated payments to remove unnecessary steps. The focus is on delivering a straightforward process: arrive, show your phone, and board.
The company also provides direct ferry services from Fuerteventura to Gran Canaria and Tenerife, with three weekly sailings to Las Palmas and two to Santa Cruz. These fast ferries, Mercedes Pinto and Volcán de Taidía, offer comfort during the journey, including rest areas and VIP accommodation options.
Lanzarote residents can also travel directly to Gran Canaria with daily ferries, including double sailings on Wednesdays. The ferries, Sicilia and Volcán de Tamadaba, offer similar amenities for a pleasant travel experience.
