Karin Herrero Provokes Controversy with Remarks on Puerto del Rosario’s Mayor
Karin Herrero, a presenter from Los 40 Principales, has sparked outrage after a promotional video for his book portrayed Puerto del Rosario as a hub of drug trafficking and crime. In the video, he made disparaging comments about the town’s mayor, saying, “you don’t know what you’ve gotten into.”
The backlash from the community followed the video’s release, with residents expressing confusion over its offensive content. They recognised it as a marketing stunt but questioned the distasteful approach.
In response, the local government condemned the video, labelling it “unacceptable” to use Puerto del Rosario’s name in connection with criminality. Herrero has since deleted the video from his Facebook page.
The content, which included references to drugs and theft, has been described as both unfortunate and misleading. Some observers suggested the marketing tactic crossed a line, with one social media user comparing it to falsely advertising a pharmacy by mentioning illegal drugs.
Critics have also pointed out the inappropriateness of promoting such content to a teenage audience. One commenter questioned why parents would bring their children to a book signing for a title that discusses topics like cheating in school and drug use.
In a later video, Herrero threatened the mayor again, declaring, “you don’t know where you’ve stepped into” and making a series of crude remarks. Another internet user disapproved of Herrero’s self-image, likening him to a “Russian hacker” trying to intimidate others.
As the controversy continues, many are left wondering which political figure might next align themselves with Herrero’s provocative comments.
