CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen to Face Ikasa Boadilla in Season Opener
CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will kick off the 2026-2027 season in the women’s División de Honor Oro with an away match against Ikasa Boadilla in Madrid. This first fixture will take place over the weekend of 27 September 2026.
The schedule was confirmed during a draw held last Thursday at the Real Federación Española de Balonmano. Other notable matches include Inversus Ucam Murcia against Rahi-Sepisur Córdoba, and Vino Doña Berenguela Bolaños facing Lauko Ermuko Errotabarri.
Fourteen teams will compete across 26 matches, concluding with the final round on 9 May. Two teams will earn promotion to the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola.
Ikasa Boadilla finished sixth last season with a total of 29 points, securing 14 wins, one draw, and 11 losses. In their previous encounters with Lanzarote, Boadilla claimed victory in Madrid (28-19), while Lanzarote triumphed at home (26-22).
Facing financial difficulties last season, Boadilla successfully raised funds through sponsors, supporters, and families to continue competing at this level.
Coach Jesús Casanova stated that pre-season training is set to begin on 17 August, lasting six weeks before the first match against Ikasa. The team may also participate in the San Ginés tournament and the Copa Canaria, expected to provide three to five practice matches.
Casanova acknowledged the uncertainties surrounding team line-ups, saying, “It’s too early to make any valuations, but I expect a strong team in defence with quick counter-attacks.”
Lanzarote will host their first home game in the second round against Caja Rural Aula Valladolid, with their derby against San José scheduled for early 2027 in Titerroy, returning for the final league match at the Municipal de Tías in May.
