A construction worker was injured on Saturday after falling approximately three metres at a site on La Calera Street in Playa Blanca, Yaiza.
The accident occurred around 9:30 AM. Emergency services from the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium responded after the Canarian Urgent Care Service (SUC) requested assistance to evacuate the worker.
According to the Consortium, the worker was on an upper level of the building, making it impossible to use the stairs to bring him down. Medical staff assessed his injuries upon their arrival.
Firefighters then placed the worker on a vacuum mattress to immobilise him and facilitate the evacuation. They used an aerial ladder to lower him safely to the ground.
Once evacuated, he was transferred to a SUC ambulance and taken to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife. The Consortium has not disclosed the extent of the worker’s injuries.
The operation also involved local police and Guardia Civil officers, along with site personnel and SUC medical teams.
