The Civil Guard in Lanzarote has arrested two individuals and is investigating a third on suspicion of attempted homicide and lesser charges of assault following an incident in Costa Teguise.
According to reports from Crónicas on Friday, the Costa Teguise Civil Guard was alerted on 17 August to an attack involving a knife and a minor near a local leisure area. Witnesses stated that a brawl erupted between two groups, during which one minor was stabbed in the back, and another suffered head injuries requiring stitches. The injured minor was taken to José Molina Orosa Hospital by ambulance.
Investigators confirmed that one witness had recorded a video of the alleged assailants fleeing the scene before police arrived. By reviewing this footage, officers managed to identify one suspect, a 44-year-old man.
Further witness statements indicated that the suspects might reside in Arrecife and that one had recently been released from prison. Following this lead, the Costa Teguise Civil Guard’s investigation team identified a second suspect, who was recognised by both the victim and witnesses as the attacker.
A third individual is being investigated as a possible accomplice; this person owned the vehicle used by the suspects to leave the scene heading towards Arrecife.
The case files, along with the arrested individuals, have been forwarded to the Judicial Court Nº 1 and 2 in Arrecife for further proceedings.
