The 2026-2027 cultural season kicks off on 16 and 17 October with the XIII Monologue Festival, featuring ‘Influencers’, directed by Carlos Alonso Callero. This year’s event combines various texts and performers to explore the relationship between the stage, social media, mobile phones, and artificial intelligence through humour and theatrical creativity.
The Sala Insular de Teatro has announced a diverse lineup of 22 performances, including live music, collaborations with cultural organisations, amateur theatre, and improvisation. Artistic director Gonzalo Ubani, joined by Guacimara Medina, the Gran Canaria Culture Counsellor, highlighted the importance of providing spaces for all artistic expressions, supporting both emerging talents and seasoned professionals.

- The programme will begin on 30 and 31 October with ‘Señora tu madre’ by Raquel Ponce Hernández, focusing on themes of old age and motherhood.
- In December, Abián Hernández’s ‘La Grieta’ will investigate grief and loss through dance.

- This festival returns in November, featuring the Robert Kessler Trio on 6 November, followed by the ‘En Conexión’ Festival on 14 and 21 November.
The season will also celebrate ten years of the #NoSoloAutor initiative, offering musical performances from various artists from January to February. Notably, Eliana Melián’s ‘Que no te escuche la sombra’ will address memory and displacement on 26 and 27 February, and the SIT-MASDANZA artistic residency will take place on 12 and 13 March.
April and May will see the return of ImproSIT, culminating in a public participation event on 15 May, while the traditional XII Muestra de Teatro Popular is scheduled for late May. The season wraps up with ‘Enredadera’ on 19 June, focusing on movement arts and critical thought.
Tickets go on sale from 12:00 this Friday via the web, at the Teatro Cuyás box office, and the Sala Insular de Teatro before performances. Discounts are available for various groups, including 50% off for job seekers, students, and under-30s, and 30% off for seniors and groups of ten or more.
