The Argana Sports Palace in Arrecife hosted a lively day of basketball for the second edition of the San Ginés Memorial Marcial Martín Rodríguez 3×3 Tournament. The event brought together fifteen teams and approximately seventy-five players, reaffirming Arrecife as a hub for 3×3 basketball.
Twelve teams competed in the men’s category, while three took part in a mixed category. The atmosphere was filled with friendly competition, dedicated to honouring Marcial Martín Rodríguez, after whom the tournament is named.
Gym Tonic emerged as the men’s champions, with Percha&Roll following as runners-up. In the mixed category, Summer 3×3 clinched the title, and Los Moluscos finished in second place.
The tournament was organised by Canarias 3×3, led by FIBA-licensed coach and journalist Gonzalo Mejías, in partnership with the sports department of Arrecife City Council. Councillor Roberto Herbón presented the trophies to the winning and finalist teams, marking an event that turned the Argana Sports Palace into a vibrant summer basketball venue.
The day also featured emotional moments. The organisers presented a plaque of appreciation to Arrecife City Council and the Canary Basketball Federation for their support, and recognised Marcial Martín Rodríguez’s family, with his sister accepting the plaque on their behalf. This poignant moment underscored the tournament’s purpose of celebrating his memory through the sport he loved.

With fifteen teams and around seventy-five players enjoying an exciting day of sport, the event has successfully blended competition with community spirit, reaffirming basketball’s unifying influence on the island. It proved to be more than just a sporting event—it’s a chance to connect, compete, and enjoy basketball during Lanzarote’s summer.
