Fire in Las Chumberas Apartment
Tenerife firefighters responded to a call around 7pm yesterday to tackle a blaze in an apartment on the second floor of a block in Las Chumberas, La Laguna. The alert came from the Tenerife Emergency Coordination Centre.
Upon arrival, local police informed firefighters that a person had been treated by the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) and that no one else was in the flat. Firefighters then entered to put out the kitchen fire and ventilate the apartment, with the National Police also present at the scene.
Earlier in the day, at about 11am, firefighters were called to extinguish a fire in a vehicle parked outside a hardware store on the TF-152 in La Laguna, with local police assisting.
In Santa Cruz, firefighters were dispatched around 2.30pm to control a fire in scrubland in El Tablero, again with local police on site.
On Wednesday morning, La Laguna firefighters rescued a hiker unable to continue due to an injury in the Cruz del Carmen area. They immobilised her and carried her to a SUC ambulance, supported by local and Canarian police and CECOPIN.
Lastly, Santa Cruz firefighters returned to a site where a scrub fire had rekindled overnight.
