A teenager reported missing at Playa Mujeres in Papagayo, Playa Blanca, was found safe on Friday evening following an extensive search operation by land, sea, and air.
The alert was raised around 6:45 PM when the Centre for Emergency Coordination and Security (CECOES) informed that the boy had been missing for approximately two hours. A team from the Lanzarote and La Graciosa Emergency Consortium swiftly mobilised resources, including intervention vehicles R1, R2, and M2, along with a drone unit.
Upon arriving at Playa Mujeres, emergency teams contacted the boy’s parents to gather crucial information regarding his disappearance and to identify priority search areas. As the operation progressed, additional support came from the Guardia Civil, Local Police, and a MI21 helicopter, which assisted with aerial search efforts while ground teams searched various locations around Playa Mujeres.
After several hours, a ground team successfully located the teenager, who was reported to be in good health. They escorted him back to his family, and initial assessments confirmed he did not require medical attention.
In a separate incident in Playa Blanca, emergency services were called around 10:05 PM by ambulance staff to help open a vehicle on La Lapa street. Firefighters used specialist tools and techniques to access the vehicle safely, ensuring minimal damage.
