Santa Cruz de Tenerife Launches New Shopping Vouchers
The Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Tenerife will release new shopping vouchers, the Bonos Consumo Santa Cruz, on Tuesday, 4 August at 12:00 PM. Each voucher can be used to spend £25 at participating shops and restaurants, costing consumers just £15.
This sixth edition will offer 20,800 vouchers and a public investment of £220,000, potentially stimulating the local economy by up to £520,000 through the combined funds of the municipality and consumer contributions. The campaign will cover all five districts of the city.
Vouchers will be available via the official website and can be redeemed until 2 November 2026, or when supplies run out.
Pricing and Availability
The main category of vouchers includes 16,000 at a nominal value of £25. The local government will cover 40% of each voucher’s cost, meaning consumers pay £15 but can redeem it for £25 at shops. Each individual can buy a maximum of four vouchers, allowing for £100 in spending at a total cost of £60, resulting in savings of £40.
The overall municipal investment for this part amounts to £160,000, designed to funnel £400,000 into participating local businesses.
The distribution will start as follows:
- Centro-Ifara: 7,500 vouchers
- Salud-La Salle: 4,400 vouchers
- Suroeste: 2,200 vouchers
- Ofra-Costa Sur: 1,500 vouchers
- Anaga: 400 vouchers
This allocation may adjust based on demand.
Sunday Vouchers: £25 for £12.50
A secondary offering, the Bonos Domingo, aims to encourage shopping on designated festive days. This will present 4,800 vouchers valued at £25, with the council covering 50%. Consumers will pay £12.50 for each.
Individuals can buy a maximum of two vouchers per Sunday and up to six vouchers throughout the campaign. The municipal contribution here is £60,000, potentially generating £120,000 in spending.
How to Purchase and Use Vouchers
Consumers can access the Bonos Consumo Santa Cruz website starting Tuesday at noon. The platform provides details on participating stores, their locations, and current voucher balances.
Vouchers need to be used at the specified establishments. Customers must present identification linked to their vouchers at the time of purchase. Following each transaction, buyers will receive an email detailing their voucher balance.
Local businesses interested in joining the initiative can register via the same site. The maximum allowable spending for each shop will be regularly updated online.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez highlighted the campaign’s goal of supporting local commerce and boosting employment within the neighbourhoods. Carmen Pérez, CEO of the Development Society, noted that municipal aid has increased to 40% for each voucher’s value and advised early purchases due to previous high demand.
In 2025, the fifth round involved 328 businesses with a redemption rate of 97.74%, according to municipal records.
