Pedro San Ginés, the Secretary-General of Coalición Canaria (CC), has stated in an interview on Crónicas Radio’s “Entre Barrios” programme that he does not intend to lead a list in the upcoming elections in May 2027. He expressed that he has no aspirations for such a role, emphasising, “I am not seeking to head any electoral list, as I didn’t in past elections either.”
San Ginés mentioned that if he were to be part of a list, it would likely be for the Parliament of the Canary Islands or the Arrecife City Council, where he previously ran. However, he remains fairly certain that he will not head any list, noting, “It’s probably only those two where I could be involved, but I won’t repeat the past experience unless it’s for the Parliament.”
He highlighted San Bartolomé as the most challenging municipality for any electoral turnaround, describing the management of Isidro Pérez as overrated. “There won’t be major electoral shifts, but I do expect our results to improve while the Socialist Party will likely worsen,” he said. He acknowledged the difficulty in reversing the current mayor’s significant majority, stating that the public granted an absolute majority with a sizeable lead.
San Ginés also expressed optimism about improving electoral results across all constituencies after acknowledging that the CC experienced poor results in 2023. “We need to accept that our outcomes were not good, with some being quite bad. I believe we will enhance our results in almost all constituencies, including the Parliament, Cabildo, and all seven municipalities,” he concluded.
