The Cabildo of Fuerteventura is inviting bids worth €345,382.54 for the establishment of an Interpretation Centre for Arid Zones at the Morro Velosa viewpoint. This initiative aims to enrich the area, turning it into a valuable resource for understanding and appreciating the island’s landscape, nature, and heritage.
The project will encompass the comprehensive design and development of the museum, including content production, fabrication, supply of exhibition elements, and installation. It will also feature the design and equipping of a café area.
The planned centre aims to offer an innovative interpretation space that strays from traditional exhibitions, focusing on creating an engaging, educational experience for visitors. Topics covered will include the geological formation and arid landscape of Fuerteventura, its biodiversity, and the natural processes shaping the territory, utilising various audiovisual and interactive resources.
Additionally, the project will incorporate an immersive experience area, encouraging sensory and participatory engagement with the content.
President of the Cabildo, Lola García, emphasised the importance of this project in enhancing and expanding the island’s cultural spaces, making use of the prime location of Morro Velosa to educate both residents and visitors about the region’s natural values.
Cultural Councillor Rayco León noted that the initiative aligns with the Cabildo’s action plan for revitalising and modernising the island’s museum network, which aims to enhance existing spaces and create new ones. It will also leverage the potential of Morro Velosa as a hub for environmental education and awareness of the local landscape.
