Lionel Morales secured third place in the World Series triathlon held this weekend in Hamburg, Germany. Competing in the PTS2 category, he clocked a time of 1:11:25, finishing behind French athlete Jules Ribstein (1:07:41) and Belgian winner Wim De Paepe (1:07:36).
Morales struggled against his two rivals across the three segments, with his cycling performance being the highlight of his race.
Reflecting on the event from Germany, he said, “This is an incredible spectacle. The city’s atmosphere is remarkable. We were told in the briefing it would be similar to the Paris Games, and it truly feels that way, with cheers coming from everywhere. The organisation has been excellent. I came in third, still a bit away from the top spots, but I’m gradually improving. I managed to run today, which I couldn’t do in Tarragona. The water was a bit challenging, possibly because it’s a lake and I’m used to the sea. The cycling went quite well, and I managed to hold my ground during the race. A third place in the World Series here earns valuable points. Soon, I’m heading to Tata, Hungary, for another world event,” the Lanzarote paratriathlete concluded.
