A 52-year-old man was airlifted to hospital following a near-drowning incident at La Francesa beach on La Graciosa Island on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted at 3:04 PM by the Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES) to assist the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), as the man was found unconscious. Firefighters arrived on scene to discover him struggling to breathe, receiving initial care from two doctors who happened to be nearby.
Once the medical team from La Graciosa arrived, they stabilized the man before transferring him by helicopter to Lanzarote airport for further treatment. After the operation, firefighters informed their central office and concluded their involvement.
