The outage occurred after a digger accidentally damaged an underground electrical cable during works in Uga, impacting the power supply in both towns within the Yaiza municipality.

The interruption lasted over six hours, causing significant disruption to residents’ daily routines. Power was restored around 6:00 PM, bringing relief to the affected families.

Meanwhile, the nearby tourist town of Playa Blanca maintained a steady electricity supply throughout the day thanks to a separate connection.
