Fuerteventura’s local government has launched the fifth edition of the “Yo compro en Fuerteventura” campaign, aimed at boosting the island’s economy and supporting local businesses. This initiative, which starts on 10 November, allows residents to save 50% on their purchases at participating shops using consumer vouchers.
Lola García, the President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, along with Island Commerce Councillor Lolina Negrín and FAUCA President Abbas Moujir, announced the campaign. It is funded entirely by the Cabildo, with a budget of €400,000.
García emphasised the importance of small businesses in creating employment and sustaining the local economy. Negrín encouraged shop owners on the island to sign up for the initiative, which is expected to support families and small traders.
Moujir pointed out that FAUCA will distribute 37,100 vouchers this year, generating over €740,000 in economic support. The recruitment of shops for the campaign begins today, with hopes for a positive impact during the Christmas season.
Consumers can buy €20 vouchers, paying only €10, as the Cabildo covers the remaining amount. Each person can acquire up to 15 vouchers linked to their DNI or NIE. Vouchers will be available until 20 January 2027 or until funds run out.
Participating shops can register starting today at 12:00 noon through the campaign’s website, www.yocomproenfuerteventura.com. The website will also provide a list of participating shops, their locations, and remaining voucher balances.
