Lanzarote Costa Teguise suffered a heavy defeat on Saturday, losing 113-34 to Colegio Tacoronte in their second match of the Primera División Autonómica basketball league. The game took place at the Municipal Pavilion Agua García in Tenerife.
Costa Teguise struggled with a depleted squad, which Tacoronte exploited by maintaining a fast-paced game from the outset. Despite the setback, Ángel González from Lanzarote was the match’s top scorer with 17 points, although only four players managed to score for the team. In contrast, all eleven players from Tacoronte contributed to the scoreline, with Cándido Gutiérrez leading his side with 16 points.
Coach Federico Toledo of Lanzarote reflected on the match, stating, “We had many absences and few players. We held our own for a quarter, competing at a high level. Then fatigue set in; they had twelve players rotating while we struggled with nine, two of whom were unable to play and a third had to be substituted due to injury. They overwhelmed us.”
Looking ahead, Costa Teguise will face Hispano Ingles Stella Maris at the Ciudad Deportiva de Lanzarote Pavilion on 7 November at 16:00. Hispano Ingles Stella Maris recently lost 90-83 to CB Las Palmas GC but previously secured a convincing victory over CB Maramajo, winning 101-39.
