Opening of La Gran Manzana Shopping Centre Nears in San Miguel de Abona
The mayor of San Miguel de Abona, Arturo González, has announced that the inauguration of the La Gran Manzana shopping centre in Las Chafiras is imminent. During a visit to the construction site, he assessed the progress of the interior spaces, common areas, and exterior landscaping.
González shared on Instagram, “Finally, it looks like the opening is near,” confirming the centre’s launch is set for Thursday, 23 July.
He believes this shopping complex will be significant for San Miguel de Abona, as it marks the first of its kind in the area. “The works are progressing, and I hope the centre will soon be operational,” he remarked during his inspection.
New Shopping and Leisure Destination
Situated in Las Chafiras, a prominent commercial area in South Tenerife, the shopping centre aims to enhance the existing retail landscape with shops, dining, leisure activities, and cultural events.
González noted that La Gran Manzana will attract not only local shoppers but also visitors from other municipalities in the south of the island. He commented, “This is an opportunity to further energise the municipality and generate significant employment.”
The centre will feature four floors, with two dedicated to commercial activities and two for parking, offering over 1,000 parking spaces and 50 electric charging points.
Supermarket, Dining, and Cinema Planned
Plans for the complex include a leisure and dining area, a supermarket exceeding 1,200 square metres, and a cinema with more than four screens.
With a rooftop of about 10,000 square metres, approximately 7,000 will host technical equipment and facilities. La Gran Manzana will accommodate up to 1,632 visitors and is conveniently located less than 10 kilometres from Tenerife South Airport, serving both residents and travellers in the region.
