Canary Islands Government Issues Wind Warning for La Gomera
The Canary Islands Government has declared a wind alert for La Gomera starting Wednesday, August 5, according to the General Directorate of Emergencies. The rest of the archipelago will remain on pre-alert status.
This decision follows information from the State Meteorological Agency and reflects the specific emergency plan for adverse weather events in the Canaries.
Forecasts predict moderate northeast winds, with stronger gusts on the southeast and northwest slopes of the higher islands. La Gomera is expected to experience gusts exceeding 90 km/h, particularly in the southern, eastern, and western midlands, affecting coastal areas as well.
On El Hierro, gusts may reach 70-80 km/h, while areas like El Paso in La Palma could also see similar conditions. Other regions across Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura will be less likely to experience these high winds.
