Cabildo Leads Formation of Güímar Industrial Park Management Entity
The Güímar Industrial Park has officially inaugurated its Conservation Urban Entity, marking a significant collaboration among the Cabildo de Tenerife, the councils of Arafo, Candelaria, and Güímar, and the local business community. This move aims to break over a decade of administrative stagnation.
Manuel Fernández, the Industry Councillor, highlighted that this new public-private partnership will provide legal security and efficient management to attract further investments. He stated, “Today marks the beginning of stability and dynamism, establishing a legal framework necessary for this park to remain competitive.”
Attending the assembly were key figures from the Cabildo, including President Rosa Dávila and Vice President Lope Afonso, along with mayors from the surrounding municipalities and representatives of local businesses and landowners.
This partnership introduces a mixed management model for one of Tenerife’s largest industrial areas. Public administrations and the private sector will now share responsibilities for maintenance, access improvements, and infrastructure upkeep.
Fernández noted, “This step turns the park into a hub for technical employment on the island.”
The establishment of the Conservation Urban Entity concludes a complex administrative journey stretching over ten years and involves a commitment from the four participating public administrations to provide annual funding. The remaining management costs will be shared by the businesses and landowners proportionally.
The three mayors expressed a unified vision, stating that municipal boundaries should not hinder economic development in the valley. Business owners welcomed the opportunity for direct involvement in the management entity, pledging to uphold high urban quality standards for their properties.
With the formal launch of the Urban Conservation Entity, the Güímar Industrial Park aims to transform its services and establish itself as a key logistical and industrial reference in the Canary Islands.
