Fuerteventura Businessman Carlos Cebriá Receives Tourism Award
Carlos Cebriá has been awarded the Tourism Award for Professional Trajectory at the 2026 Canarias Tourism Awards. The panel, led by Jéssica de León, the Canary Islands Minister for Tourism and Employment, highlighted a record 102 nominations this year, showcasing the tourism sector’s commitment to enhancing the quality of the islands as a tourist destination.
Bodegas Conatvs, located in Lajares, La Oliva, has won the award for Excellence in Tourism. The winery was praised for its efforts to raise the standard of tourism on the island through a comprehensive approach that includes viticulture, sustainability, and cultural experiences. It is the first winery in Fuerteventura to be registered with the Protected Designation of Origin of the Canary Islands, marking a significant step in the region’s tourism development.
Cebriá, a resident of Fuerteventura for 50 years, is recognised for his dedication to luxury tourism in the area. He opened the Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real in 2003, Fuerteventura’s first five-star luxury hotel, which has hosted numerous distinguished guests, further enhancing the island’s reputation.
In other award categories, Landmar Hotels received recognition for its sustainable employment model that prioritises staff wellbeing and development. The Ecofinca Nogales in La Palma was celebrated for its contributions to sustainable agriculture and ecological tourism.
The Asociación de Reinserción Social de Menores Anchieta received the Accessibility and Inclusivity Award for its long-standing commitment to community reintegration, while La Palma was honoured as a Sustainable Tourism Destination for its extensive conservation efforts.
The awards ceremony will take place on 24 September at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos in Puerto del Rosario, marking the first time Fuerteventura will host the event.
