Azahara María Regadera has been appointed as the new Secretary for Rights and Social Movements of the Young Socialists of the Canary Islands during the 16th Congress of JSC held this weekend.
The Lanzarote and La Graciosa activist expressed her pride in taking on this role, highlighting the event’s discussions, enthusiasm, and camaraderie.
“I take on this responsibility with pride and commitment. I will lead the Secretariat for Rights and Social Movements for JS Canarias,” Regadera stated.
She will also maintain her position heading the LGTBIQ+ Policies Secretariat for Lanzarote and La Graciosa. “I’ll continue my work here at home. Change happens both on the streets and in the islands,” she noted.
Regadera emphasised her focus for the coming months: prioritising young people in the Canary Islands. “We will defend rights, stand with social movements, and ensure no one is left behind, working towards a fairer and more equal Canarias.”
She thanked her colleagues for their support during the congress, saying, “Thank you, sisters, for the hugs, the backing, and the strength. This is for all who fight, from Lanzarote and La Graciosa to the eight islands. Because Canarias is about this.”
The Young Socialists of the Canary Islands is the youth wing of the PSOE, dedicated to advocating for the rights and political participation of young people in the region.
