The Canary Islands have been placed on heightened weather alert due to expected heavy rainfall and storms, effective from 10:00 today. Lanzarote and La Graciosa are now under Prealert as part of the updated warnings from the General Directorate of Emergencies, which also includes Fuerteventura in a similar status.
While Lanzarote and La Graciosa are monitored for severe weather conditions, a yellow alert remains in place for these eastern islands. Currently, there are no expectations for an escalation to an orange alert anywhere in the archipelago in the coming hours.
In contrast, El Hierro, La Palma, and La Gomera have downgraded from an intensive alert to a Prealert, signifying a reduced risk level for these islands.
The General Directorate of Emergencies will continue to monitor the weather closely due to uncertainties regarding the location, intensity, and duration of the anticipated rainfall and thunderstorms.
