The Fuerteventura Island Tourism Board will participate in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London from 3 to 5 November, held at ExCeL London. They will represent the Canary Islands under the Promotur Canarias banner, featuring a stand for both professionals and the public, along with a dedicated space for bilateral meetings. This marks a continuous attendance of over thirty years at this fair.

Joining the delegation will be the tourism municipalities of Antigua, La Oliva, and Pájara, along with local tourism business owners.

The board has arranged meetings with tour operators, airlines, and distribution platforms from key European markets. They plan to highlight the winter 2026/27 flight connectivity beginning on 1 November, which offers 442,672 regular seats from the UK, confirming its status as the largest market for Fuerteventura.

Notably, British Airways will launch a new route between London Heathrow and Fuerteventura on 13 December, operating twice a week. This will be the island’s first direct link to Heathrow, a major European airport hub.

Participation in the WTM follows previous engagement with the British market, including a meeting on 27 October in Fuerteventura with Jet2’s director general for tourist organisations and airports. This focused on travel trends and what British travellers value in a destination.

Marlene Figueroa, the Minister of Tourism for Fuerteventura and deputy chair of the board, emphasised that WTM is the biggest showcase for global tourism. “Our ongoing presence for over thirty years demonstrates the strategic importance of the British market for Fuerteventura. This winter, we arrive with unprecedented connectivity and a better understanding of what British travellers seek.”

She also mentioned that “the availability of over 442,000 regular flights from the UK this winter showcases the strength of that relationship. The new route from Heathrow with British Airways exemplifies this commitment.”

The meetings will help the board maintain connections with key British market players and discuss the outlook for the winter 2026/27 season.
