The Canary Islands Government has downgraded its maximum weather alert for rain to a general alert for La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro as of 9:00 am on Monday, November 2. This decision was made based on information from the State Meteorological Agency and other sources, in line with the Canary Islands’ Specific Emergency Plan for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).

The alert level was adjusted for the eastern part of La Palma, following a change in weather conditions and a reduction in rainfall intensity. Currently, the thresholds for the previous alert are not expected to be met across the island. However, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro remain on alert due to continued instability, with a risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain in the late afternoon and overnight hours.

In Tenerife and Gran Canaria, a pre-alert status is still in place. By midday on Monday, Gran Canaria may experience rainfall of up to 15 mm in an hour on its northern slopes, with instability expected to spread throughout the island on Tuesday, November 3.

Authorities continue to monitor the evolving weather situation, given uncertainties regarding the location, intensity, and duration of rainfall. Residents are advised to follow self-protection advice from the General Directorate of Emergencies.
