The San Bartolomé council is set to improve several rural roads in the municipality to enhance access for farmers and livestock workers. This initial phase will focus on the most deteriorated paths, exacerbated by recent heavy rains and ongoing use.
Funding for this project comes from the Cabildo of Lanzarote, aimed at upgrading rural infrastructure. Various improvement works will be tailored to the specific needs of each road, including profiling, adding gravel, and levelling surfaces.
The intervention will target areas such as La Majorera, La Quinta, and Montaña Blanca, ensuring safer and more accessible routes for daily agricultural activities. Mayor Isidro Pérez emphasised the critical role of these roads in supporting the local agricultural sector and the necessity for regular maintenance.
Agriculture councillor Alexis Hernández noted that prioritising paths used most frequently by farmers and ranchers is essential to maintain their functionality. He assured that this effort is just the beginning of a broader improvement plan that will continue throughout the year, responding to the ongoing needs of the agricultural community.
