The Lanzarote Cabildo has announced that the Visual Music Festival will not take place in 2026 as part of a strategic decision to improve its artistic quality and planning. This decision is part of a new phase aimed at enhancing the festival’s uniqueness and artistic dialogue between music, contemporary creation, and the island’s distinct landscapes.
Cultural Councillor Jesús Machín Tavío commented that the festival is a significant aspect of Lanzarote’s contemporary cultural history. He emphasised the commitment to preparing each edition with greater foresight, focusing on a meticulous selection of artists and improving production quality.
The Culture Area is considering a biennial schedule for the festival, which would provide more time to explore artists and projects, resulting in a richer programme that reflects both the event’s characteristics and the island’s identity. This approach aims to preserve the festival’s legacy while opening new avenues for development and engagement with the cultural identity of Lanzarote.
