Fuerteventura Launches ‘In Situ’ Artisan Workshops
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura has introduced the ‘In Situ’ artisan workshops, part of its ‘EnRedArte’ programme, aimed at providing specialised training for skilled individuals in various crafts. Led by the Ministry of Crafts, under Lolina Negrín, this initiative enables participants to learn directly from experienced artisans in their own workshops, fostering hands-on and personalised learning.
Currently, the programme features a workshop on patchwork led by artisan Bianca Escarpari, alongside another focusing on leatherwork by Felipe Bobadilla. This direct training approach allows for content to be tailored to individual needs, enhancing both technical skills and professional understanding.
Lolina Negrín emphasised that this initiative is crucial for preserving traditional crafts, ensuring that knowledge from previous generations of artisans is passed on to new professionals. The Cabildo is committed to strengthening a network of artisan workshops, contributing to the continuity and evolution of Fuerteventura’s craft sector for future generations.
