San Bartolomé de Geneto Prepares for 2026 Patron Saint Festivities
San Bartolomé de Geneto in La Laguna is gearing up for its 2026 Patron Saint festivities in honour of San Bartolomé, which will take place from 20 to 30 August. The programme aims to bring together locals and visitors through music, traditions, popular culture, and community spirit.
Kicking off the events, the traditional announcement will happen at 8:00 PM, featuring former Canarian wrestler José Díaz, known as ‘El Estudiante’. The opening night will continue with various musical performances and comedy acts by Servando and Panchita.
On Friday, activities will start at 10:00 AM with the Pasaporte Joven event. At 6:00 PM, the Scandalera announcement will take place, followed by performances from Renzzo El Selector and DJ Dixmatt.
Saturday will begin at 11:00 AM with a children’s party and the return of the water festival. Later in the afternoon, a solemn Mass will be held at 6:30 PM, followed by a night procession. The evening will conclude with a popular dance from 10:00 PM, featuring Grupo Pa Ti and The Boys Machine.
Sunday, 23 August, will continue with festivities dedicated to the patron. A solemn Mass and daytime procession will be held at 11:45 AM, followed by a communal lunch and grand dance at 2:00 PM, with entertainment from Grupo Guaydil and Orquesta Columbia.
On the Patron’s Day, 24 August, celebrations will include Mass dedicated to San Bartolomé at 6:00 PM. Two hours earlier, activities for all ages will take place in the square.
The final weekend will feature a variety festival on Friday, 28 August, starting at 6:00 PM. The Magicians’ Dance will be held on Saturday at 9:00 PM, while Sunday will host popular games from 5:00 PM in the square, designed for family enjoyment and to revive traditional pastimes.
The festive closing will also include an exhibition of Haragán and a dessert and omelette competition, rounding off a week of participation and community celebration.
