The Haría Town Council, in collaboration with the Arrieta Festivities Committee, has announced the schedule for the Fiestas de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, taking place from 20 to 26 July. Residents can look forward to a variety of cultural, culinary, and musical events.
Mayor Alfredo Villalba highlighted the significance of the festivities as a tribute to local fishermen. Alberto de León, the Council’s Event Councillor, encouraged everyone to join in the celebrations.
The events will kick off on Monday, 20 July, at 5pm with a procession from La Garita to the port, followed by a surprise bingo and a fashion show featuring performances by the MTDANCE dance school.
Throughout the week, activities will include a baking competition, a treasure hunt, and trick games. The Young Summer 2026 will also be held at SinEdad, alongside the ‘Our Artists Return’ playback event.
On Thursday, there will be a communal barbeque in honour of Pilar María Villalba Cabrera, organised by the Festivities Committee. This will feature the traditional burning of El Costero and performances by Alegranza and the Los Valles ensemble.
Most activities will take place over the weekend. On Friday, a bouncy castle race will be held at the harbour, followed by a gymkhana and a popular street party with live music from Swing del Norte, Tremendo Son, Javi Fajardo, and Vocal Force.
Saturday’s events will begin at 10am with a surfing competition, a colour party with DJs, and a book presentation for El viaje de Yazmina. The day will also include a raffle and championships in chinchón and cinquillo, with evening performances from Swing del Norte, Vocal Force, and Tremendo Son.
To conclude the festivities on Sunday, 26 July, a mass in honour of Nuestra Señora del Carmen will take place at 12pm, accompanied by the Iris del Mar choir. This will be followed by both land and sea processions, ending with a closing gala at La Garita.
Additionally, the consortium has opened applications for participation in the maritime procession set for the last day of the celebrations, on Sunday, 26 July. Interested individuals can apply in person at the General Registry or online until Thursday, 23 July.
