TLP Tenerife Kicks Off a Week of Intergenerational Digital Entertainment

The TLP Tenerife event opened its doors today, with the 24-hour LAN Party welcoming 1,200 participants. This marks a significant milestone for the event, celebrating its 20th anniversary, which began with just 300 attendees at El Rosario Pavilion two decades ago.

Notable figures in attendance included Rosa Dávila, President of the Cabildo of Tenerife; Juan José Martínez, Councillor for Innovation; Manuel Fernández, Councillor for Industry; Cristóbal de la Rosa, General Director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries; and José Manuel Bermúdez, Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Dávila remarked on the event’s journey, highlighting that TLP has become a national reference for digital entertainment. She said, “What started as a small LAN Party is now a place where thousands of young people share their passions and explore new professional opportunities. We want to continue supporting initiatives like this to foster innovation and creativity in Tenerife.”

Juan José Martínez added that TLP is more than just entertainment; it’s a platform for young people to discover new vocations and develop skills relevant to today’s job market. He stressed the importance of creating an ecosystem that nurtures local talent.

Cristóbal de la Rosa emphasised TLP’s role as a cultural hub, encouraging new ideas and creativity. Meanwhile, Mayor Bermúdez celebrated the event’s success over the years, recognising the challenges faced but commending the organisers’ efforts in making TLP a prominent event nationally.

Idaira Febles, TLP director from Nakatomi Corp, reflected on how much of the current team has been involved in the event for many years, expressing a desire to give back to the community that has supported them.

The LAN Party opened at noon, with many fans camping out overnight to be among the first to enter. For six days, participants will engage in various activities surrounding their gaming setups.

Bridging Generations

The upcoming Summer-Con, launching tomorrow, promises activities tailored for diverse audiences. It will combine cutting-edge games like Valorant and Mario Kart with nostalgic retro machines reminiscent of classic arcades.

Manga legend Yumiko Igarashi, creator of Candy Candy, will be attending for interviews and signing sessions, appealing to fans of all ages. Popular content creator Luzu will headline the event, alongside other influencers like Agustin51, aXoZer, and Mayichi, showcasing their appeal across generations.

TLP Innova, the event’s professional segment, will feature talks from industry icons such as Raúl García, Disney’s first Spanish animator, discussing animation direction and storytelling techniques. This segment aims to connect professionals in the expanding audiovisual industry in the Canary Islands.
