Puerto del Rosario Strengthens Health Initiatives with Local Charities
Puerto del Rosario has signed agreements with four social organisations to enhance health promotion and overall quality of life for residents, particularly those facing health challenges. The agreements aim to focus on mental health support, cancer care, and dementia assistance.
Mayor David de Vera emphasised the council’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups within the community. “These agreements highlight our dedication to those in need,” he stated.
Public Health Councillor Rosa Rodríguez underscored the importance of a comprehensive approach to health promotion, stressing the need for initiatives that enhance emotional well-being alongside medical care.
Among the supported projects is ‘Metamorfosis’ by the Asomasamen Association, which provides tailored therapeutic support for individuals with mental health issues, fostering personal autonomy and social inclusion.
The council also backs ‘Movvida’, a project by Fuerteyoga, which offers a structured exercise programme, including therapeutic yoga and mindfulness practices, aimed at individuals undergoing cancer treatment. This initiative seeks to enhance both physical and emotional well-being during their recovery.
Additionally, funding will assist the Project for Oncology Wigs in Puerto del Rosario, initiated by the Metastatic Breast Cancer Association, which ensures that affected individuals have access to wigs, promoting emotional comfort and quality of life.
Furthermore, a collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Family Association of Fuerteventura will support the ‘Retales de la Memoria’ programme, delivering ongoing quality care for dementia patients while supporting their families.
These agreements reinforce Puerto del Rosario’s partnership with local charities, recognising their essential role in shaping public policies that prioritise residents’ needs.
