PSOE Canarias Backs Pedro Sánchez’s Government Amid Federal Committee Meeting
Ángel Víctor Torres, the General Secretary of PSOE Canarias, has expressed full support for Pedro Sánchez’s government during a Federal Committee meeting in Ferraz. He highlighted the positive developments brought by Sánchez’s political actions in the Canary Islands.
Torres referenced Sánchez’s recent words in Congress: “How can we not continue?” He noted that the answer lies in the significant social and economic achievements of recent years. He pointed out that there are now nearly 80,000 fewer unemployed individuals in the Canary Islands compared to 2018, despite population growth.
He also emphasised the implementation of the Minimum Vital Income, a vital resource for many families in the region. Additional measures cited included pension increases, investments to extend early childhood education, and increased state funding for dependency services. Torres claimed these initiatives have strengthened social cohesion and equal opportunities.
He reaffirmed PSOE Canarias’s support for Sánchez’s government, asserting that it represents a commitment to social justice, equity, and solidarity.
In conclusion, Torres celebrated the historical role of PSOE in defending the welfare state, stating, “We will continue to write the pages of equality, justice, and solidarity in our country because no other political party defends social justice better.”
