Man Airlifted from Cofete Beach After Near Drowning Incident

A 49-year-old man was airlifted to hospital after experiencing moderate drowning symptoms at Cofete Beach, Pájara, on July 4, 2026, at 3:49 PM.
Emergency services were alerted by the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES 112) about a swimmer in distress. The Group for Emergency and Rescue (GES) dispatched a rescue helicopter immediately.
Before GES arrived, a surfer pulled the man from the water. The helicopter crew then transported him to the helipad at Fuerteventura General Hospital.
