Tinajo’s San Roque Festival Set for August 2026
Tinajo has announced its programme for the San Roque Festival, scheduled to take place from 6 to 21 August 2026. The town’s festivities will feature a packed calendar of events aimed at all ages, with music highlighted as a major draw.
A standout performance will be by K-Narias on Friday, 14 August at 21:30. This much-anticipated concert will also include Toti Sanz, alongside the return of the “Sabores de Tinajo” culinary event that evening.
The celebrations kick off on 6 August with an opening speech by Benedicto Cabrera Tejera, an expert in agriculture and pests. Following the speech, musicians including timplista Alexis Lemes and guitarist Adrián Níz will perform, concluding with a concert by Grupo Alegranza at the San Roque square.
Family-friendly activities will encompass workshops, children’s games, inflatable attractions, and a kids’ playback session at the Tinajo Community Hall. For adults, there will be workshops on crafts, macramé, and self-makeup, as well as a dessert and liqueur competition.
Sports enthusiasts can look forward to the XXVIII Rallye Isla de los Volcanes on 8 August in San Roque square and a zumba session on 15 August.
Music will play a central role throughout the festival, with the musical “Ready For The Ride” performed by The Infinity Dream Events on 10 August. A theatrical show, “El apagón,” will take place at the Municipal Theatre on 12 August, followed by a polka battle on 13 August, and the XXV Festival AMC Timbayba “40 años al sol” on 15 August, also at the Social Hall.
Traditionally, the “Romería de la Vendimia” will consist of grape stomping, a Eucharist, and performances by local bands Los Labradores, Pal Porrón, Los Gurfines Son del Puerto, Aldaba, and Son de Mar on 8 August.
The highlight of the festival will occur on 16 August, the feast day of San Roque. At 18:00, a solemn Eucharist will be led by the auxiliary bishop of the diocese, Cristóbal Déniz Hernández, followed by a procession accompanied by the Tinajo Music School and Peña de San Roque band. The day will conclude with performances by Acatife and comedian Kike Pérez at the Social Hall.
Event coordinator Jonatan Pérez Olivero encourages locals and visitors to join in the celebrations, highlighting the diverse programme for families. Meanwhile, Tinajo’s mayor, Jesús Machín, expressed his hope that everyone can enjoy the festivities honouring San Roque and wished a joyful festival to all local residents.
