Lanzarote welcomed over 1.4 million tourists by air in the first five months of 2026, reflecting a slight 0.2% decrease compared to the same period in 2025, according to the Canary Islands Statistics Institute. This number far surpasses the island’s resident population of 166,878.
Despite the decrease, Lanzarote continues to attract more visitors than before the pandemic. Between January and May 2019, there were around 1.2 million arrivals, indicating an increase of approximately 166,000 tourists—a rise of 12.84%.
March recorded the highest number of visitors this year with 325,463, while May had the lowest at 259,671. In 2025, the island concluded the year with 3.4 million air passengers, in addition to over 660,000 cruise ship passengers arriving at the Port of Arrecife, totalling more than four million visitors.
