Lanzarote welcomed 1.7 million tourists in the first half of this year, a slight decline from 1.72 million in the same period last year. However, the nationalities of the visitors have shifted notably.
The most significant growth has come from Italian tourists, up 23% from 42,869 to 55,891 arrivals this year. German arrivals also rebounded, rising 17% to nearly 170,000, although the figures remain below those of previous years.
British, Irish, and Dutch markets showed little change, with 884,720 visitors from the UK, 193,157 from Ireland, and 43,922 from the Netherlands recorded between January and June 2026. The Belgian market also grew by 17%, increasing from 26,704 to 31,404 tourists.
In contrast, arrivals from Nordic countries plummeted sharply. From 57,790 visitors last year, numbers fell to just 32,131 this year—a staggering 44% decrease. The French market dropped by 6.4%, from 119,509 to 112,309.
Domestic tourism saw a slight reduction of 2.4%, with 136,964 arrivals from Spain compared to 140,366 last year. There was also a notable 14.8% decline in arrivals from “other countries,” down from 92,608 to 78,881.
