Canary Islands Government Grants Fuerteventura €60,000 for Tourism Projects
The Canary Islands Government has awarded Fuerteventura’s Cabildo a grant of €60,000 to develop four projects aimed at enhancing and diversifying the island’s tourism offerings.
Each project will receive €15,000 in funding, which will be used to create technical documents, define actions, and facilitate future financing, rather than to fund immediate construction.
The planned projects include ‘Windows to the Landscape of Fuerteventura’, which aims to improve viewpoints and sites of natural and cultural interest; ‘Window to the Sky’, which will create a space for astronomical observation; and ‘Lime Landscapes’, focused on revitalising areas linked to traditional lime production.
The fourth initiative, ‘Modal Points for Tourist Mobility’, will assess how to manage access, parking, and travel to major tourist attractions, especially in sensitive areas.
The Tourism Department has not yet revealed specific locations for these projects. They must consider criteria such as accessibility, sustainability, heritage conservation, and landscape integration.
The Cabildo has until 31 December 2027 to complete and submit the four proposals, which will be vital for integrating them into the Canary Islands’ Tourism Infrastructure Strategy ahead of future execution.
