Emergency works to repair a sewer in central Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will lead to significant traffic changes.
The first phase involves a temporary closure of the bus station, disrupting local transport. Following this, in the second phase, the Rafael Cabrera Avenue will be partially closed. Traffic from the southern Avenida Marítima wishing to join Rafael Cabrera must now divert via Munguía Street or the Guiniguada fork connecting to Lentini Street, and then continue to General Bravo, Malteses, and Losero Streets before rejoining Rafael Cabrera.
Access from Avenida Marítima to Miguel de Cervantes Street will be limited to public transport and residents only. Additionally, Primero de Mayo Avenue will see a redesign, creating a dedicated lane for public transport and another for general traffic towards Paseo de Chil, with a single lane for opposite traffic.
The route for general traffic along Primero de Mayo towards Paseo de Chil will be redirected to San Bernardo and Viera y Clavijo Streets to reach Buenos Aires or Bravo Murillo. There will also be a ban on traffic along Pilarillo Seco Street heading towards Francisco Gourie from Rafael Cabrera.
Traffic on Francisco Gourie Street between Munguía and Losero Streets will be limited to public transport and residents. Municipal and Global bus routes affected by the closure will be adjusted, with details to be provided by the respective transport companies.
