Funding Secured for El Cotillo Fishing Shelter Upgrade
The Canary Islands Government’s Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, and Food Sovereignty has announced plans to upgrade the fishing shelter in El Cotillo. An agreement will be signed tomorrow, 4th August, involving key representatives, including Narvay Quintero, the department head; Agoney Piñero, CEO of Gestur Canarias; Lola García, President of the Fuerteventura Cabildo; and Isaí Blanco, Mayor of La Oliva.
Also attending will be Fuerteventura MP Jana González, alongside the Directorate General heads for Fishing and Livestock, Esteban Reyes and Andrés Díaz Matoso, respectively. Other notable attendees include Héctor Pérez, the technical director of Gestur Canarias; Leocadio Sánchez, representing the contractor Obras Públicas Canarias S.L.; and Juan Francisco González, the head of the Cofradía de Corralejo.
The project, funded with an investment of €200,000, aims to renew approximately 2,000 square metres of infrastructure. Work is expected to take around two months and will enhance safety, functionality, and overall condition, while modernising the facilities for professional users.
